The Essential Traveler’s Guide to NRA Show 2017

NRA Show 2017

We’re really excited to attend NRA Show 2017! This year’s show takes place at McCormick Place in Chicago. It includes 2,208 exhibitors, as well as free tastings, live demonstrations, 90+ educational sessions, networking opportunities and special events. Everything at this show is designed to inspire and engage folks in the restaurant and food distribution industry. Here are some tips to ensure that you have all of the information you need to have a great experience!

1) Get the app

A little bit of planning can go a long way! NRA Show has created a mobile app to help you stay informed and organized. You can easily access schedules, sessions, maps, speakers, exhibitor info…pretty much everything. There is even a message and friends feature! We’d recommend downloading the app now and getting familiar with it before your arrival. Head over to the app store on your device and search for “NRA Show” to find the NRA Show 17 app. Once you’ve downloaded it, you can build your own schedule and bookmark sessions or exhibitors that are of interest to you. Do a search for “Relyco.” Once you’re viewing our profile, hit the calendar icon to add us to your schedule or tap the star icon to bookmark our booth. We’d love to see you!

2) Know what to expect

Make sure that you’ve got the basics down. There are comprehensive FAQ pages on the NRA Show website for both exhibitors and attendees. Here are some highlights:

  • The show runs from May 20 – 23
    Saturday – Monday: 9:30am – 5:00pm
    Tuesday: 9:30am – 3:00pm
  • NRA Show is for trade only, it is not open to the public. It is open to professionals involved in the restaurant, food service and hospitality industry. Attendees can register in advance here.
  • Kids (including infants & toddlers) are not allowed. No one under 16 years of age is permitted on the floor.
  • Dress code is business casual.
  • Here is the schedule at a glance.

3) Determine your route

Whether you’re staying at a hotel, taking public transit or planning to drive and park, you definitely want to nail down your arrival in advance. Your plan for a mode of transportation to the show should not be: “Oh, I’ll just wing it!” That’s a recipe for a stressful morning and there’s no need for it. You can avoid future hassle by visiting the transportation page on the NRA Show 2017 website now.

PRO TIP: Take advantage of that hotel shuttle! If you are staying at any of those hotels – and there are a lot on that list – use the shuttle! Shuttles run every 20 – 25 minutes. Just make sure you’re taking the correct route to get back to your hotel after the show.

  • Saturday, May 20 – Monday, May 22
    From Hotels:  7:30am – 2:00pm
    To Hotels:  2:00pm – 6:00pm
  • Tuesday, May 23
    From Hotels:  7:30am – 12:00 pm
    To Hotels:  12:00pm – 4:00 pm

4) Think about your WiFi needs

McCormick Place does offer complimentary WiFi in the public/function spaces, but don’t expect it to be fast. Emails and basic websites will work fine, but due to high traffic from users at the show, you should be prepared for an unsteady and sometimes weak signal.

There are options to upgrade your WiFi and they can be purchased directly from your device once you’re at the show. Rates start at $9.95 per day. You can find more information about cost and specs at McCormick Place’s wireless page.

Feeling ready?! If you need answers to any lingering questions, be sure to check out the NRA Show website. Oh, and don’t forget to stop by booth #10147 in the Lakeside Center area and say hello to the Relyco Team!
