Laser Check Security Features

  
  Our business is to use the newest developments in printing and paper technology to safeguard your business from becoming a victim of counterfeiters and crooks.  We have the tools to safeguard all types of business documents.

Relyco carries stock laser checks containing 10 to 16 of the security features below.  Custom laser checks are available with  as few or as many security features as you require.

Copy-Void Pantograph

When a check is photocopied, the word VOID appears on the photocopy.

When an endorsement is photocopied, the word VOID appears on the photocopy.

  
 

Gradient Two Color Pantograph

 Simulated Watermark  
 

A multi-color background in which two colors change density and blend into each other, making it very difficult to reproduce accurately on a color copier.

Printed with white ink, simulated watermarks have a different reflectance than the base paper and can be seen at an angle. Because the ink is white, it cannot be photocopied or scanned.

  
 

Anti-Splice Backer

Microprinting

  
  Horizontal or diagonal lines of varying thicknesses which are printed on the back, making it difficult to alter information by the cut-and-paste method. Microprinting  
 

Non-Negotiable Stub Backer

  "Non-Negotiable" printed on the back of the check stub to prevent fraudulent use of check stock. Located in two places. On front of check, alerting the teller that there are security features to look for. On the bottom back of the check, stating that there are additional security features embedded within the check design.  
 

Warning Band

Thermochromic Heat Reactive Ink

  
  This feature alerts the teller and/or check recipient to the presence of certain security features which can be verified before processing the check. Special temperature-sensitive ink that causes the color to fade to white when held between fingers. Normally used in conjunction with warning band.  
 

Multi-Language Chemical Void

Solvent Reactive Color Spotting

  
  When chlorine is used, the word "void" appears in six languages, making it difficult to alter without detection. Chemical Reactive Paper  
 

Covert Fluorescent Fibers 

Overt Fibers

  
  Material fibers are added in the papermaking stage. They are invisible to the untrained eye, but "glow" when held under an ultraviolet light. Material fibers are added in the papermaking stage. Overt fibers are readily visible to the naked eye.  

 

Enhanced Toner Adhesion

Fourdrinier True Watermark
Special surface treatment used to enhance adhesion of toner to paper.

This feature is manufactured into the paper creating images within the paper which are visible when held up to an ordinary light source.
 


A Note About "Positive Pay"

  
 
Although all of the above security features are good deterrents, they cannot prevent all check fraud.  Positive Pay is a service offered by banks to help fight check fraud.  Positive Pay requires verification of check number and check value before the check is processed.  This is accomplished by sending the bank a list of checks that have been processed and then verifying and clearing the checks against that list.
