The ColorMax 7 produces full-color CMYK output using the Memjet engine, offering up to 16.8 million colors, on a variety of 
paper stocks and sizes, with full-bleed capability on media up to 8.5" wide. It can print 1600 x 1600 dpi at 6 inches per second, and 1600 x 800 dpi at 12 inches per second.

With its Memjet thermal inkjet technology, it doesn't require heat or contact to create an image, so it can safely be used with pre-printed envelopes and windowed envelopes without damaging the window or marring the original image. High-capacity ink tanks and fully-automated print head cleaning ensure optimum print quality throughout print runs.

The Colormax 7 features the Memjet Waterfall Printhead Technology which prints page wide in one pass. Memjet-powered printers can provide high-speed, variable data, color printing for localized on-demand label runs. The Formax Colormax printer with the Memjet engine can produce a color envelope or label/ impressions in seconds, and a full roll/stack of labels/impressions in minutes. Memjet Waterfall Printhead Technology™ achieves high-speed color printing at low cost by printing in a single pass- page wide for the label and business printing industry. The printhead requires minimal warm-up time and prints in one pass without scanning back and forth. While dramatically improving performance, this fixed head architecture also reduces the noise, vibration, mechanical complexity and drop firing complexity associated with traditional inkjet architectures. Memjet printheads are designed as a long-life, customer replaceable component allowing end users to keep their printers running at peak performance year after year while protecting their investment.

For maximum scalability, the size of the printhead nozzles enables extremely fine detail and font which offers a wide range of applications. Each printhead packs 70,400 nozzles into a silicon structure that delivers 1600 dpi native print quality that is more dense and cost efficient than any other leading inkjet IC designs. The ink is delivered in a waterfall on the substrate at a rate of over 700,000 million droplets per second at a size of 1.2 picoliter. This allows for less ink usage per image produced.

Memjet inks are water-based, four-color (CYMK) ink formulations. The inks are unique to meet the demands of high-speed drop ejection, single pass printing and to ensure reliable, high-quality color printing for the life of the printhead. Advance dye colorants have been chosen to achieve the highest image quality and reliability at high speeds. The printhead’s microscopic 1.2 picoliter ink droplets absorb into typical substrates in milliseconds, so media of all types that are printed with Memjet print heads and ink are completely dry the second they exit the print path.
