Testing for Straight or Reverse Collated Laser Carbonless Paper

Relyco's Laser Carbonless Paper is available pre-collated for single tray use, or uncollated for use in multiple tray (or even multiple printer) applications.  Pre-collated Laser Carbonless Paper comes in both Straight and Reverse Sequences, so it will work in your printer no matter which way it handles the paper.

Testing 3 Part Forms:
First, the following chart will help you decide whether you need Straight Collated or Reverse Collated Laser Carbonless Forms, depending upon how your printer outputs paper, whether your paper tray loads face up or face down, and whether the printer pulls from the top or bottom of the stack.
Before ordering or conducting any testing of Laser Carbonless forms, make certain that you are using the same paper tray that you will be using for your live application, as some equipment loads and/or feeds differently depending upon which specific tray is being used.

You are now ready to begin testing the Laser Carbonless Paper.  Although it is difficult to tell, the forms do have a front (imaging) and a back (non-imaging) side.  The best way to tell which is which is to determine the proper sequence of colors.  First, lay the stack of Laser Carbonless Forms on the table in front of you, being careful not to disturb the sequence.

If you have received STRAIGHT COLLATED forms, then the proper sequence is White-Canary-Pink, in that order.  If your forms appear to be in Pink-Canary-White sequence, then you are looking at the back side of the forms.  Simply flip the entire stack over so that the forms are face up.

Laser Carbonless Paper - 3-Part Straight Collated

If you have received REVERSE COLLATED forms, then the proper sequence is Pink-Canary-White, in that order.  If your forms appear to be in White-Canary-Pink sequence, then you are looking at the back side of the forms.  Simply flip the entire stack over so that the forms are face up.

Laser Carbonless Paper - 3-Part Reverse Collated

Once you have determined which side of the forms is the face, simply load them into the printer, making sure to load face down or face up as necessary.  Now you are ready to print.  You can print the actual form that you will be using, or just a test document, it doesn’t matter.  You should try to print something that is several pages long to make sure that you go through at least 2 “sets” of forms.

Once your forms are printed, you simply need to determine that they are in the proper White-Canary-Pink sequence, and that you have indeed printed on the correct side of the forms.  To do this, take one White-Canary-Pink “set” of forms, and write your name on the White Sheet, making sure to press down hard enough to image the other sheets.  Your name should image onto the Canary and the Pink sheets.  If it has, your test has been successful, and you are now ready to order your Laser Carbonless Paper!

Testing 2 Part Forms:
With 2 Part Laser Carbonless Forms, there is no need to distinguish between STRAIGHT or REVERSE COLLATED forms, regardless of how your printer handles paper.  If your printer outputs face down, then the first sheet printed should be White. If your printer outputs face up, then simply remove the White sheet from the top of the stack so that the first sheet printed is Canary.
