Pressure Seal Forms
Storage and Handling Tips

STORAGE RECOMMENDATIONS

  • Because of the shorter shelf life of pressure seal forms, FIFO - First In = First Out must be practiced. Please rotate cartons so that the oldest pressure seal forms are always used first.

  • Store pressure seal cartons on pallets or shelves, keep cartons off the floor and do not stack against walls. Do not stack over five cartons high as the downward pressure can damage pressure seal forms in the bottom cartons

  • Storage conditions should be controlled. Extremely cold and/or hot temperatures can adversely affect the shelf life and the performance of the pressure seal forms. Temperature range of 65° - 77° Fahrenheit and relative humidity of 30% - 60% are recommended. Also; you must avoid any rapid changes in relative humidity or temperature. Pressure seal forms act much like a sponge to absorb or shed moisture in the air and that can affect it's performance in laser printers causing curling which can cause paper jams. Excessive curl can also affect the smooth operation of your pressure seal machine.

PRESSURE SEAL FORMS HANDLING

  • Remember pressure seal forms is like a sponge, absorbing and releasing moisture, which affects performance. You will need to plan ahead and acclimate the forms about two days before printing by placing them in the printer room.
  • If you don't use all the pressure seal forms you had planned to use, it would be helpful to keep them stored in a poly bag so they can be better protected from atmospheric changes.  Please click here to request one of Relyco's Enviro-Guard Pressure Seal Storage Bags to help protect your self mailers.
  • 'Fanning" pressure seal forms on all sides and jogging them in an FD400 Jogger prior to printing in your laser printer is usually recommended by laser printer manufacturers. We recommend you do the same when you go to place pressure seal forms in the feed tray.
  • While not mandatory, we recommend that you acclimate the pressure seal  forms for one hour or so, placed curl side down, before you process through the pressure seal machine. This results in optimal feeding and an extra strong glue bond.
