Here at Relyco, we’ve always taken pride in offering the very best in state-of-the-art check security features.  Typically, the concept of check security has been limited to features imbedded in or pre-printed on the stock itself, but now we are pleased to introduce a new type of security feature that actually involves the MICR toner used to print the variable information on your laser checks.  That’s right, selected models of Troy MICR Printers can now be equipped with special Security Toner Cartridges to add an extra level of document security to any check.

How does it work?  The specially formulated Troy Security MICR Toner contains a unique dye that is released when exposed to substances containing acetone (i.e. industrial cleaning solvents), ethyl acetate (i.e. nail polish remover) or toluene (i.e. paint thinner) – all substances used to remove or “wash” toner from checks in order to alter the amount, payee name, or other pertinent information.  This makes it obvious that a check has been tampered with, as the activated dye causes an unmistakable and indelible red stain to appear in the affected area.
