Bill Lawrence serves as our Procurement Analyst. He’s been with RELYCO since February 2020, so he was working with us for just one month before the pandemic began. We had to quickly switch to remote working, which was a huge adjustment for everyone, and undoubtedly jarring for someone who was just beginning to grow accustomed to his new job. But Bill has proven himself to be very adaptable. He started out in our Finance department and has since moved over into Operations, where his role involves managing inventory, purchasing, analyzing trends and forecasting.
In meetings, Bill is usually pretty quiet, but not exactly shy. He’s simply a person of few words, who seems steady and unflappable. In more casual conversation, Bill reveals himself to be a genuinely curious person who is interested in learning about other people. For many of these interview questions, he gave (unsurprisingly) short answers. But whenever I engaged him on one of his answers to see if he had more to say, he always had a follow-up question for me instead!
See the interview below to learn more about Bill in his own words:
What three words would your friends use to describe you?
Easygoing, kind of goofy and spontaneous.
Do you consider yourself to be an introvert, extrovert or ambivert?
Isn’t everybody a combination of both [introvert and extrovert]? I would say the last one [ambivert], but lean a little more introvert.
Do you drink coffee or tea in the morning?
What’s your favorite smell?
What do you listen to in the car?
Either country music or podcasts. Mostly sports related podcasts.
Describe your happy place.
The golf course, in the summer.
What would you choose for your “last meal”?
Right. I’ll just keep it basic, like tacos. Don’t need to get too elaborate.
Where is/was your favorite place to visit while traveling?
If you could talk to your 16-year-old self, what advice would you give?
Probably tell myself to be a little more outgoing, a little more confident. That’s about it. Eat a little healthier, as well.
What’s your most used emoji?
Just a smirking face probably 😏. Winky face maybe 😉.
If you could hang out with someone (living or deceased) for the day, who would you pick?
Maybe Elon Musk. He seems like he has some weird things going on. Pick his brain a little bit.
Do you have one favorite holiday tradition?
Probably Easter egg hunt. We still do them. My parents still do an Easter egg hunt even though I’m twenty-eight years old. [He laughs] Me and my sister, we’re both twenty-eight. But my parents still do it every year. It’s fun. [Asked if he’s a twin] She’s technically my step-sister, but she’s only five days older than me. It’s so random. I’ve known her since we were about five years old, so we’re essentially twins.
