Next up in our Get to Know Relyco Series is Brenda Chaisson, Relyco Partner Sales Manager/Business Development. Brenda is the salesperson who is always eager to try any scheme we come up with. She’s a marketing team’s dream salesperson! An example: we’re exploring the idea of doing video signatures for our emails and Brenda immediately jumped right on board to be the guinea pig. She’s down to try anything, even if it’s scary and new. Brenda is patient, sincere and supremely welcoming to new folks as they join the team; she’s always happy to share her experience if a new staffer asks for advice. Chatting with her, you learn immediately that her sons are a top priority. She’s clearly very proud of them and is very involved with their athletics. Her weekend stories generally revolve around this game or that game. Here is Brenda in her own words:

How long have you worked at Relyco?
15 years. Almost 16, actually.

What’s your favorite smell?
That would be…a specific lily flower. It’s a stargazer lily. I just love them! Anything relative to flowers is nice.

Who was the last person you texted?
My son, Jimmie. I wished him good luck on his basketball game tonight.

What do you wish your customers knew?
I think that’s a hard one. I think they pretty much know a lot about me from when I engage with them and start developing a relationship because I wear my heart on my sleeve. [laughs] But gosh…that they’re important to me. That I’m always honest and will do my best to make sure everything goes smoothly.

What do you listen to in the car?
Reggae! [laughs] Reggae & electronica, music radio only – no talk radio.  Every now and then I flip to Sinatra – “Siriusly Sinatra” – it reminds me of my father.

Describe your happy place.
That’s easy, it’s the ocean. It’s so peaceful. I enjoy going there by myself and just listening to the waves.

What’s your favorite thing about Relyco?
Working for someone who cares about his employees and customers equally. [she pauses and starts to tear up a little] …It’s emotional. Because you don’t get that everywhere. Someone who really cares about you and you want to work hard for them. And be proud of that.

If you could talk to your 16-year-old self, what advice would you give?
Go to college. Get experience in the world. Have fun. Everything in moderation. Enjoy life, really. Listen to the advice from those who have wisdom…it’s powerful, as they’ve already learned life’s lessons.

Your house is on fire, what’s the one thing you grab?
I liked Mike Steinberg’s answer on that, “besides my wife.” [she laughs] That was great. Which is what I would’ve said. Definitely my dog Sasha, my fish Venus, my cell phone and my car keys. Can we do four? [laughs]

Where is/was your favorite place to visit while traveling?
For business or anything? Well, I’d have to say Hawaii takes the cake on that one. My second favorite, I traveled for business for Relyco, I can’t remember what year, to Ojai, California and it was just amazing out there. And Florida, Florida’s always a favorite.

What’s your favorite song to dance to?
Oh gosh, that’s a hard one! I have a bunch of them! Brown Eyed Girl is one of my all time favorites and my sons know that. They come and grab me to dance when it comes on when we’re at a wedding or a function. Recently, Uptown Funk, that’s a great song to dance to. I love dancing!

What’s considered your specialty at Relyco?
The partnerships I have developed with my customers…and OEM’s – nurturing for new business development, helping them find unique printing solutions for their clients – it’s a win-win situation! That’s really what I have heavily concentrated on over the last 5-6 years – I’ve worked with some reps for the entire time I’ve been with Relyco – Hi Michele Mogilski!

After the interview, Brenda said she felt silly for tearing up. But it was an honest moment and a great one. She’s an emotional person and that’s a superpower; she’s passionate about things and she’s truly empathetic. Those are traits that we value and are so glad to have her here. Brenda is wonderful!
