Our company prides itself on customer service. We really enjoy connecting with our customers and learning more about you. In 2017, we wanted to make sure you get to know us too by starting a series of Get to Know Relyco posts! We're real people with our own unique likes, dislikes, interests and personal histories. Every single person at our company fulfills an important role and makes up a piece of the Relyco puzzle. We consider our company a big family! We think that it's important that you meet everyone on the team.

It makes the most sense to introduce the series by starting at the beginning, with Michael Steinberg, Relyco's Founder. His name is Michael, but we all call him Mike. He founded the company in April of 1989. Today, Relyco is still a family business. Mike is proud of all the company has accomplished, though it seems like it's how success has been achieved that really pleases Mike. Top notch customer service is the central idea at Relyco; it's the foundation everything else is built upon. That idea comes from Mike. He sets that tone.

Sitting down with him for an interview, he revealed himself to be warm, soft-spoken, inquisitive and exceptionally thoughtful. Here is Mike Steinberg in his own words:

What three words would your friends use to describe you? Loyal, tenacious, giving

Where did you grow up? Portsmouth, NH

What do you wish your customers knew? That we truly do care about them. That we try to do the best for them. That's how we built the company, that's why the company was named Relyco. The company you can rely on.

What do you listen to in the car? Sports radio, favorite 60s music or classical music

Describe your happy place. When I'm up! I'm happy no matter where I am. I live everyday, every moment. Because every moment has a meaning and is the basis for how everything happens. You make a decision and it really sets the next thing, the next thing and the next thing. It all flows.

What’s your favorite thing about Relyco? The people. People need people. I like my employees, my customers, my vendors. I think it's just fun dealing with people.

If you could talk to your 16-year-old self, what advice would you give? Don't be afraid to fail.

Your house is on fire, what’s the one thing you grab? Besides my wife? [followed by a big grin]

Where is/was your favorite place to visit while traveling? Oh god, so many of them! I love to relax in Aruba. I can't think of a place I've been to that I really didn't like. I love France, Italy, Québec City, Sedona...every place you go has something unique that you like about it.

What’s your favorite song to dance to? Celebration by Kool & The Gang

If you could hang out with someone (living or deceased) for the day, who would you pick? It would be my dad...because I never met him. He died when I was six months old.

What’s considered your specialty at Relyco? Cheerleader..? I think I like to be the positive energy of the company.

Mike's buoyant response to the final question, after discussing such a painful topic the moment before, perfectly demonstrates his resilience and overall demeanor.
